The Cisco CATALYST 6500 series switch 6509 ( part# WS-C6509-1300AC ) is the 9 slot model of the 6000 SERIES Cisco Catalyst Switch. We have used Cisco WS-C6509 Switches configured with the Catalyst 6000 Supervisor Engine1-A, 2GE, plus MSFC-2 and PFC ( part # WS-X6K-S1A-MSFC2 ) . Cisco Catalyst 6000 Series Line Cards can also be purchased and configured within these Cisco 6509 Switches.

The 9-slot Cisco Catalyst 6509 offers scalable port densities, ideal for many wiring-closet, core and data-center deployments. When equipped with a single Catalyst 6500 Series supervisor engine, eight payload slots are available to support a wide range of interface or services modules. Redundant supervisor engine configurations using fast 1­3 second failover are also supported for maximum network uptime. The Catalyst 6509 offers a range of power supply options, including redundant power supplies ranging from 1000W AC or DC to 4000W AC. The Catalyst 6509 also features field upgradable fan trays for easy service.
